Hi Luiz,
it seems we've reduced this argument to the one that states different
artifacts mediate cognitive procesess in different ways to constrain
tasks. That seems ok with me, just nothing new. What I want to
understand is the digital nature of artifacts -- how can we
characterize that digital-ness in a way that's not just (and I don't
mean to bag on it) constraining tasks and mediating natural cognitive
processes, or thinking about it in terms of ideal/material artifacts
(ilyenkov), or as primary, secondary, tertiary (Wartofsky). How can we
investigate the digital, how can describe the digital, how can we
theorize the digital, etc. Maybe thinking about it in terms of how it
changes practice (as you seem to be doing in your last paragraph with
connected computers and reading papers) is the right way...
