You ask the key question, Ana. Can anything turn aside war lust? I have
been wondering what would happen if German, France, China, and Russia all
sent 500,000 troops to Baghdad. Fantasy of course. But even in fantasy, would
anything slow us down?
Commercial talk shows are plastered with people excoriating those who think
that its cheaper and more effective to keep thousands of inspectors running
around Iraq than send hundreds of thousands of Americans and Brits to kill
Iraquis in order to save them.
Senator Byrd laid out the issues brilliantly on the Senate floor a couple of
days ago. I'll see if I can get ahold of it and forward. But it is unclear
to me what can stop the war lust. Mr. Bin Laden appears to be getting just
what he sought.
