Well folks, getting the infrastructure for the course together is
proving a challenge, especially because in the US it is a long four day
vacation period and some key folks have not answered queries. Others have.
I now have an article by Jim Wertsch which has gotten as far as lchc.ucsd.edu/
People/Mike Cole ("Mediated action.....") and Seth Chaiklin has sent a
doc file of his chapter on institutionalization of Cultural-Historical
Psych which I hope to get up soon. And I have scanned a recent article on
Vygotsky and Elkonin which will probably go up monday.
bb is fussing with the Scribner article on Vygotsky's uses of history.
Barbara Rogoff is back from a trip away and promises to let me know what
she would permit us to put up.
Yrjo has said he can get his hands on his summary chapter on CHAT which is
a revised version of his talk at Lahti.
I will post something.
If bb or Nate are available and contact me, some of this can be posted
earlier or later, and we can begin some summarizing and discussing. Yet
to be dealt with is whether this should go onto xmca or not. It may prove
simply a distraction for some/many. Any views on that appreciated.
As soon as the core set of "recent summary" pieces are up (I forgot that
a Lave piece from MCA is being scanned to complete the list) I hope various
facilitators will step up and take facilitating roles for each of the articles
and we can try a round-robin compare and contrast to see what the local
landscape looks like.
And, of course, since we are still missing Valsiner and anything from
Spanish-speaking authors, a scanned suggestion or .doc document would be
gratefully accepted.
More when there is more.
