Judith's article does look very intriguing Nate but the level of language
appears beyond understanding without any intro to CHAT. Possibly the reason
I haven't bought into CHAT yet is because of the meta-language and the
different levels that take me beyond my personal contact with reality.

The difficulty in my understanding certainly has to do with the dialectic
nature of CHAT; that it can discuss assessment and instruction in the same
context (something behaviorism certainly can't boast) is certainly to the
theories benefit. However, when reading CHAT based articles, many times I am
left in a whirlwind of what level and who's practice are we discussing? Is it
the student's community or is it the school's culture?

Quite honestly the best CHAT based article I have read was Helena's. The
reality of the circumstances provided a ground for me to stand on while she
discussed the issues being addressed.

Quite a rambling post but hopefully I have captured some of my thoughts in a
way that has provided insight into this beginner's search for understanding
of how theory fits into the praxis of teaching.
