I did some interesting research on virus transmission a couple of years
ago: it's VERY important that members of a community give feedback on
these things. When we delete the hoax message, or worse, pass it on
without verification, we short-circuit all the social mechanisms we have
to insure that our "shared perceptions" are, in fact,
valid/useful/acceptable constructions of reality.
Now, I don't generally was quite this theoretical when I explain why I
bothered to check symantec, but it's my way of saying, "Hi! I'm
baaaaaaaack!"
