mike,
while i'll totally support the inclusion of as many discussants as possible
and the more knowledgeable the better and even though this will mean that
the reading of the posts will be more time consuming than the reading of the
text itself, I can't help but notice that on the question of reading
Leont'ev an entirely different tenor has been struck than with any of the
other readings that we have undertaken. Certainly the centrality of
marxist theory to activity theory in its different manifestations will not
be something easily avoidable when reading Leont'ev -- although I know that
some chalk this up to a faux orthodoxy that served motives of political
expediency.
I'm also heartened that Leont'ev calls forth this reaction and the
indication that there is a broad group of people throughout the world from
balmy Cuba to frigid Finland who intend to participate since it indicates
that there are truly some central ideas that unite the global community of
people who form (one of) the ideal audience/membership(s) of xmca!
