As per Mike's suggestion on waiting, I think it might be a good opportunity to think through
how we would like the collective reading to progress.
Offline there has been an impressive international response from members who are very
interested in a collective reading of Leontiev. It seems to me spending some time throughout
the summer planning what direction the reading would take would be very useful. With the
broad interest it would be sad if it took off and died away like similar projects.
So, I would like to invite those interested in the planning aspect of the collective reading (fall)
to send a message to me on the list or offline. I would imagine some the planning aspect
would include,
1). When to start and how to progress - chapter a month, week, day (just kidding)
2) Limiting reading to Leontiev or / and incorporating other "Russian" Activity Theorists
3) The practice / theory relationship. Some interesting applications of Activity Theory outside
of the states and how can we incorporate this experience into the reading. Maybe making an
attempt at getting section / chapter discussion leaders from outside the states.
This is just off the top of my head, I'm sure there is other experience on what would make
such a project work.
What are others thought?
