It so happens I have been writing a paper on the work of Jack
Goody and completing a textbook on human development as this
discussion takes off.
Goody is an interesting case because change/development and
anthropology/sociology/psychology/history all come together
in his work.
Chris-- While there are problems in interpreting history as
development, there are problems of assuming development applies
only to the biological. I believe that position leads from
Gessell-Pinker. Great issues involved.
