The Faculty of Education, with 140 academic staff, and 3150
EFTSU is organised into five schools: Cultural and Language
Studies in Education; Professional Studies; Early Childhood;
Learning and Development; and Mathematics, Science and
Technology Education. The Faculty offers courses at the graduate
diploma, and first and second degree preservice levels, and
Master and Doctoral studies are undertaken within specified
areas. The work of the Faculty is professionally oriented.

The School of Cultural and Language Studies in Education has
recently been formed on the Kelvin Grove Campus through the
amalgamation of the former Schools of Cultural and Policy Studies
and Language and Literacy Education. The new School, with 35
lecturing and support staff and approximately 850 EFTSU provides
academic programs and research and consultancy opportunities
in the following representative areas: social justice, gender and
sexuality studies; global and cross-cultural education; history and
philosophy of education; language and literacy education in the
primary and secondary school; TESOL and LOTE education;
teacher librarianship; information literacy, and literacy and
technology.

Within this range of concerns, the School is seeking an appointee
to provide research leadership, and in particular to direct the
proposed Research Centre in Language, Literacy and Diversity.

qualified women are encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Applicants should hold a relevant
doctoral degree or equivalent accreditation or standing, and should
meet the University criteria for appointment as Associate
Professor. The appointee will have a distinguished research
record in a defined area of Cultural, Language & Literacy Studies
in Education, and the ability to provide research leadership within
the School. Applicants will also demonstrate teaching ability of a
high order, and have a record of involvement in a professional field
within Cultural, Language and Literacy Studies in Education.

CONDITIONS: Appointment is available on an ongoing basis at
the level of Associate Professor ($70,702 to $77,895 pa).
Conditions include subsidised superannuation, relocation
assistance and professional experience leave.
