Re learning/development
Note that Eva has a section with this title in her paper.
I second Genevieve's request to see Mary's paper when done and hope
she will post it for discussion. Meantime, Mary and those especially
interested in this pair of terms, you might find David Moshman's article
in volume 2 of the Handbook of Child Psychology, 1998, pp. 947ff useful.
Moshman's question is whether or not there is cognitive development
following childhood. He lays out very clearly a set of criteria for
what constitutes development (qualitative change, progressive change, and
internal directedness) that might serve as a useful foil at one end of the
spectrum. He also answers in the affirmative concerning cognitive DEVELOPMENT
following childhood.
