Paul-- I am not sure metacognition is a prevelant category among
activity theorists, but the parallels you draw with Giddens and
Bourdieu to the general notion of metacognition used by psychologists
sound plausible.
Ken's more grounded example with respect to miscue analysis strikes me
as very helpful when discussing metacognition in the context of
educational activity.
