Dear Luiz

Being silent from Wednesday afternoon to Friday afternoon is not all that
long in the listworld. There are more than two HUNDRED subscriber voices
that have kept silent for the past two months. And out of the more that 80
individuals who have posted something in April or May more than half have
posted only one or two messages. Silence, paradoxically enough is the
prevalent state of list subscribers, here as elsewhere. Time is a scarce
resource...

Who has written on the xmca these months, then?

Looking at it by domain, and by gender-as-revealed-by-name -- two
admittedly crude aprioris -- I find that 56% of the postings were sent by
male participants and 43% by female participants. Active writers (posting
at least one message) were 52% male and 46% female.

63% of the postings were sent by participants in a US domain of the Net and
37% were sent by others. Active writers were 67% from US domains and 33%
other domains.

I'm NOT including Canada in the US, but I admit to being gender blind with
many Asian names.
