For those interested in the cognitive styles issue, there is a pretty
extensive discussion in Chapter 3 of *Cultural Psychology* or in the
1983 LCHC article in the Mussen Handbook of Child Development on
culture and cognitive development.
The issue of how to identify culture-wide constraints that create
inter-cultural variation greated than intra-cultural variation is
unresolved, so far as I can tell.
