I wonder if there is not another contradiction in that the individual
attempting to assume both roles is hampered in this case by being in what
amounts to a third role of omniscient constructor of a fantasy game
scenario. In this case, the competitive activity of game-playing with its
associated rules and roles would seem to be a complex instrument being
used for individual practice (learning/development).
