I think there is plenty of evidence that teaching styles
can inhibit effective use of computers. By effective I assume you
mean, "promoting of mastery of the toolkit of culture(s)." But
what do you have in mind when you speak of "suppressing external
thought processing as oral language"? Do you mean kids work alone
and can't talk, or?????? The issue of how computers and telecommunications
can (in principle, in special places, but ) enable alternative forms of
education we might refer to as developmental is a difficult one
that I think a lot of XMCA members are interested in.
