Olav W. Bertelsen, computer scientist, affiliated with the Computer Scien=
ce
Department of Aarhus Universisty, Denmark.
About to finish ph-d. thesis at the information and media science
department. The thesis is about design artefacts and artefacts in design =
of
computer artefacts. It is based on dialectical materialism, mainly activi=
ty
theory and Wartofsky's notion of primary secondary and tertiary artefacts=
,
and I also use the notion of boundary objects in a very loose manner (may
be the only way to use that concept).
I am brought up in the participatory design tradition, and have a long
interest in human-computer interaction, particularly theoretical
foundations and the relation between theory and design. Currently, I'm
involved with a small project on multimedia and art together with a great
danish experimental theatre; totally openended.
I believe in activity theory; particularily after Yrj=F6 Engestr=F6m has =
been
writing about horisontal development. But i think this development induce=
a
need for discussing the concept of progress in order not to fall into
relativism.
