collusions of privilege

I was, like Tim, going to plead for this waterhole, this breath of fresh
air -- time out from stifling in-real-life departmental conditions etc. It
has meant so much for me since I found the way here. I think it means much
for others, too, in a variety of ways.

I know it is a secluded garden. Perhaps it is just a dream that by talking
here I can bring something away with me outside? Well, no, I don't think
so: the connections are pretty real.

And I also know this garden isn't Eden: nothing is innocent, as Patti
Lather kept saying when she was here (in Sweden) this spring. Privilege is
our daily bread in a world where daily bread is a privilege...

and I have been sitting too long at the computer -- my whole body aches.
