I just read Elvira Souza Lima's article about critical pedagogy and
sociohistorical psych in the 1995 theme issue of A & E Qrtrly ("Culture
Revisited: Vygotsky's Ideas in Brazil"), and I'd like to request some help
from list members

1- Does anybody know how I can get copies of the following (in either
Spanish or English)?

Amelia Alvarez & Pablo del Rio (1982) Obras escogidas de L Vygotsky.
Madrid:Visor

Gramsci, A. (1981) La alternativa pedagogica. Mexico: Fontamara

La psicologia evolutiva y pedagogica en la URSS. (1987) Moscow: Editorial
Progreso.

Anything by or about Henri Wallon

Anything by or about Florestan Fernandes

Any other lit (Spanish or English) related to the main ideas in this article

Elvira's paper presented at the IRA conference in Anaheim, 1995
("Multiplicity of Literacy Practices: Culturally Based Pedagogy in
Brazilian Classrooms")

2- Does anybody know how to contact Elvira?

3- Does anybody have some detailed knowledge about the educational reforms
in Belo Horizonte, or about the other educational reforms mentioned in the
article (eg: trade union schools)?

I am interested in hearing from people who are interested in the idea of
studying Vygotsky from a critical pedagogy perspective, especially as
Elvira argues for looking at the dialectical relationship between milieu
and praxis.
