Today I will see if, through the miracle of scanners, I can post the text
from pages 330-342 of the LCHC article, "Culture and cognitive development"
from the 1983 Handbook of Child Development, Vol. 1. The section is
entitled, "From the specific to the general" and it gives a pre-historic
version of the sort of comparative explication that Eva suggests might
become a joint project of xmca-ites. It uses Jean Lave's early work as
one route to the future. Jean was a co-author of the article, along with
a fairly large caste of characters whose identities and subsequent hisitories
might be of interest.
If scanning fails (my experience is mixed) and people want to pursue this
thread, we can seek alternative routes.
