Dear Ueno-san,

My apologies for the fractured English in my reply to your message
about the Lave/McDermott visit. I was working from a tertiary account and
did not realize I was using the wrong backspace key. :-(

The gist of my message was to ask you to amplify what is mean't
by "learning across contexts" and how it contrasts/compares to the notion
of learning in communities of practice.

It strikes me that readers of XMCA would be interested in the papers
that you and Kawatoko presented in Geneva on the improvisational/constructed
nature of even highly skilled practices. Would it be possible for you to
send them to the xmca web page? There is a growing set of interesting papers
there now, and if the papers were available, perhaps we could discuss them
here on xmca, in the manner that Cultural Psychology has been discussed. Not
everyone reads the texts being discussed, and not all discussion focuses on
them, but they achieve many opportunities for self reflection.
