Eva,
I think that intensity of involvement does characterize certain
communities which also share an object of activity, but it does not
appear equally relevant--or does not emerge in others. It is for this
reason, among others, that we have been working on trying to define
different patterns of collaboration,
Vera
An example of an integrative pattern is provided by the four women who
wrote Womens' Ways of Knowing and aimed at developing a single voice for
that book. Then, they seperated and pursued different activities and
collaborations, and recently wrote a co-edited book where the level
of their intensityof involvement is changed, more typical of co-editors,
although their a similar product, a book, as the result of their joint
activity. Thus, even among well-established groups, there are phases and
rhythms in the intensity of involvement.
