CALL FOR PAPERS

We view the conference as dealing with art, creativity, and
emotions (in the broadest sense of the word). We view this as a
unique opportunity for Russian and Western experts on art and
creativity to interact and get to know one another, so are most
hopeful that you will accept our invitation.
For a symposium proposal, contact the local organizer Leonid
Dorfman (75-150 Karpinsky Str., Perm 614022, Russia; E-mail:
dorf who-is-at artpsy.perm.su). Submit your abstract (either by e-mail or
on an IBM 3,5"/5.25" diskette) to the local organizer.
The one-page Abstract (A4) should contain:

Name(s) and affiliation(s) of author(s),
Title,
City and Country,
Abstract (not more then 300 words).

Deadline for submitting Abstracts is November 1, 1996. Notice
of acceptance will be given by February 15, 1997.

Early registration deadline will be April 15, 1997. Only the
abstracts of contributors who have registered by April 15,
1997, will be included in the final program.

SYMPOSIUM FEES

Symposium fees for early registration (before April 15, 1997)
will be US $150.00 including a book based on symposium,
nutrition breaks.

TRAVEL, ACCOMODATION, CULTURAL EVENTS

The planned venue for the conference is that participants would
arrive at Moscow international airport Sheremetievo-2 on
September 14. They would be met and taken by car or minivan to
Moscow. They will attend Moscow till September 15. In Moscow,
you have hotel rooms for $43 (three-star) or $80 (four-star)
per night for single rooms. These hotels are completely safe
and about 20 minutes from Red Square. We are arranging for
Russian-speaking guides to accompany participants during their
stay in Moscow. It is not dangerous, but we do not want you to
get lost. A guided tour of Moscow, including the Kremlin, has
been arranged at an extra cost of $50. Cost from Moscow
international to domestic airports or vice versa is a problem
because of the distance. It is $100. From one airport to hotel
to the other airport is also $100. This is by a safe cab. Do
not blame me, as I did not build these airports. The distance
between them is about two hours, so some costs are involved
(see below). If you ever wanted to see Russia, I think that
Leonid has arranged a grand opportunity. For comparison, just
call your local travel agency and ask about the costs for
something similar.
On September 15, a bus-express will be given for the
participants to get to domestic airport for the flight to Perm.
The conference in Perm would be from S16 to S19. On S20
participants would return to Moscow domestic airport. From
there, they can again be conducted in safety to Moscow hotel or
directly to the international airport. If you have never been
to Russia, of course you will want to see Moscow, so you would
be taken to a hotel. The next day, we have arranged several
tours of the city including an overview and also a tour of the
Kremlin. If you want to stay in Moscow for 2 or 3 days, that is
no problem. Of course, from your hotel in Moscow you will be
conducted in safety to the airport.
Art, music, literature, etc. are much more highly prized in
Russia than in the West. Thus, this conference is being
subsidized by Russian agencies. As you know, though, Russia is
not awash in money, so we must ask participants to pay part of
their own way-though we have gotten reductions and subsidies to
reduce costs considerably. Registration for the conference is
$150. This covers refreshments, entertainment, several copies
of the edited Art and Emotion book, transportation from our
hotel to the meeting rooms, and tours of the old sections of
Perm. Roundtrip airfare from Moscow to Perm is about $280.
Hotel rooms in Perm are $45 per night for a single room ($80 if
you want a two-room apartment). Meals range from $10-$20. A few
extra tours of surrounding regions of Perm that are moderately
priced are arranged.
Commonly asked question: Why in the world would I want to go to
Perm? Answer: Well, that's where the conference is. Beyond
that, if one just sees Moscow, he hasn't seen Russia. Think of
forming an impression of America on the basis of New York or
Los Angeles alone. This is an opportunity to see Russia at a
very inexpensive rate.
