I'm in the middle of a summer intensive MA-TESL research methodology
course. I'm doing tutoring while a more senior colleague is doing the
lectures. I sit in the lectures as well. There are certainly things that
I cannot agree with, like saying that "qualitative research" has an
"emotional" appeal while "experimental research" has a logical appeal, or
experimental research is "more systematic".
And yet, being junior in my academic position, there's not much chance of
having a fair chance of doing open, intellectual discussions; and of
course not wanting to put my students in the awkward middle position...
Hey, what do you think I should/can/might do to provide my students with
an alternative perspective?
