Sorry if this is a little off-topic to the interesting discussion going
on, but since there are a number of people on this list involved in
teaching courses related to cross-cultural psychology/education, I
thought the following notice might be of interest. I'm sharing it on
behalf of a friend, Fawn Whittaker. Please contact her
directly if you're interested.

-------------
I'm teaching a university writing course for bi/multi-lingual
students in Hawai'i. This semester the class includes 15 Pacific
Island students (from Samoa and Tonga) and 7 students from other
countries (Japan, Taiwan, Mongolia, Korea, and Columbia). We are
interested in organizing a semester-long writing exchange (beginning
in early 1996) with a similar class which would focus on mutual
exploration of social and cultural issues. The exact content is open
for negotiation, but I would like my students to have the opportunity
to work collaboratively to discuss cultural issues and write a series
of papers on various cultural themes. If possible, we would also like
to jointly publish papers on the World Wide Web.
We would be happy to work with a class from any discipline that is
interested in mutual exploration of these issues.
Our semester is in session from January 8 to April 17, 1996 (though
exact agreement of schedules is not necessary).
