To follow up on the text/context version of the current discussions, I am
attaching two pages from a Ray McDermott discussion of context. The first
page refers to Ray Birdwhistle's idea of context as a twisted rope and
describes a figure/ground illusion that Ray uses to discuss text/context as
I understand its use here (not having read the paper that Peter sent).

Keeping it brief. Watch the spiralling concentric circles!
