There is an interesting short piece on bildung in Anthropology and
Education Quarterly that engages with the notion of bildung as it was
developed by Germans.
It also includes interesting references to Goethe, Hegel, and Gadamer.
The article provides an example of bildung (not sure I'm convinced by the
examples, but all of the arguments by themselves are quite interesting).
