There is a final slide (which receives no comment in the text because I
think we didn't present it) that Steve invented as an attempt to answer
that question. He envisions the starting point to be practical concepts,
which are located in the concrete-general quadrant. These are followed
developmentally by the syncretic, complexive, and preconceptual formations
in the concrete-particular quadrant. Abstract complexive thinking, located
in the abstract-particular quadrant, follows next. The final stage is
development of abstract-general thinking--i.e., scientific concepts.
