> Aim of the Conference
> Focus on Women is the theme of the 3rd International Interdisciplinary Bakhtin Conference to be held in Fayetteville, AR, USA July 4-7, 2012. The aim of each of this series of Bakhtin conferences, the first of which was hosted by the University of Crete, the second by Stockholm University, and now the third by the University of Arkansas, seeks to provide a forum for scholars from different academic disciplines to exchange theoretical and empirical research that utilizes M. M. Bakhtin's concepts of dialogue and dialogicality.
>
> The theme of this conference, Focus on Women, was selected by the international steering committee to highlight contributions of women to education, science, medicine/health, literature, ethics, psychology and the arts. This theme is particularly salient as contributions by women have globally advance theory and practices across basic and applied disciplines. The conference seeks to illuminate how the voices of women contribute to the direct and indirect framing of dialogues, dialogicality and knowledge within different disciplines and research areas. It also seeks to illuminate equality, and gender differences within research in different disciplines.
