RE: [xmca] Concepts. A Critical Approach

The idea of a distributed editing team is intriguing, but I would advise caution, especially with such a short turn-around time. I've edited a journal and a number of books, and know that not everyone invokes the same editing conventions, especially across the English-speaking national borders. US and UK based editors would be highly unlikely to edit according to the same version of English, including punctuation rules. And text conventions vary from stylebook to style book (APA and MLA in my part of the field). So unless you specify which publication manual you wish to be used, which version of English you are employing, and so on, and then train copyeditors accordingly, you run the risk of having a book where each chapter follows different conventions, which would make for a disjointed read. p
