[xmca] Culture as the Cause of War

I took Mike's quip about ending war as tongue-in-cheek.
I don't look to culture as the cause of war, and I try to restrain
myself from the idealism of thinking it can be the solution. War, I
presume, comes about as a result of our tendency to reproduce beyond the
sustainability of our environment. Morality--presumably, the cultural
foundation for eventual eradicated of war--has nothing whatsoever to do
with war. Morality is an adaptive system of intra-community relations.
War is an inter-community eruption. That we have discussions and
arguments about whether we should go to war is simply a matter of
varying interpretations of who is included in "we." But, though it is
possible to create a wide variety of complexly nested communities,
actually ending war would require an end to "we-ness" entirely. It seems
a mistake to think we can parley complexity of community identification
into dissolution of same.

The way to end war is to discover the cause of war and to remedy it.
Look at culture for the cause and change culture for the remedy.
