Re: [xmca] Simile, Metaphor and the Graspture of Conscious Awareness



I was caught by the same phrase, Robert. The developing discussion of
emotion and thought, combined with earlier discussions about playworlds and
perezhivanie, is providing more than enough food for thought. I am trying to
read the relevant chapters of *Educational Psychology* and *Psychology of
Art *(here us where the discussion of the lyricism in Homer is to be found,
starting p. 33). I am wondering about the relationship of this discussion to
the work of Bruno Snell, Havelock, and others on a sea change in human
thought that arises with heavy use of writing as a medium of communication.

Thanks for sending out that paper, David. I look forward to reading it and
the ensuing discussion. If i can catch up with 1928 I guess i can catch up
with 2010. Dialogue is not over until its over.

What intellectual issues are in question here. Might you send us the paper
and the reviews for our
collective edification?
