No Larry, first, the lifeworld RECOGNIZES nothing, living organisms do. And it does not take IMAGINAL SUPERORDINATES. It is precisely to articulate what is special about the organism and its environment that first UMWELT and, for specific human purposes, LEBENSWELT were created as categories. You find, as theoretical biologists noted in the early 20th century (e.g., Jacob von Uexküll) that certain insects tend to be found in particular places, such as the bark of trees. It is not in the bark of THIS tree, but in the bark of any like tree that you will find this TYPE of insect. . . . And you find birds, there, too, but the umwelt for the birds hunting the insect and the insect are very different. Umwelt/Lebenswelt refers to the things that are salient to the non/human organism; they are salient across contexts even though organisms do not have human capacities of idealization. :-)

I wanted to mention Wolfgang Isser's notion that in the 1960's we were conceptualizing "social structure", in the 1980's we were conceptualizing the "linquistic turn", but today in the cultural surround we are engaging with DIFFERENCES and OTHER. 
It seems developmentally we are into a another revolutionary TURNING BACK to the lifeworld.
