CALL FOR RELATING RESEARCH TO PRACTICE AWARD

The AERA Central Office has requested that I distribute this call from
Jennifer O'Day to all Division C members:

I would like to extend a special plea to you to submit nominations for the
Relating Research to Practice award to be presented at the 2010 Annual
Meeting. An important goal of AERA has always been to have an impact on
educational practice, and many of our members focus on realizing this goal
in one or more practice arenas. However, for the past two years we have
received only one or two nominations for this important award. Last year,
the committee determined that none of the nominations met the criteria or
were of sufficient quality to merit an award. To ensure that we are not
faced with a similar situation this year, we requested and have received
approval to re-open nominations through February 22, 2010. We are calling
on you as AERA leaders or former award recipients to either submit
recommendations yourself or solicit them from other appropriate AERA
members. We realize the timeframe is very short for this request but we
hope that you agree with us about the importance of recognizing the critical
connection between research and practice and the individuals who have worked
to strengthen that connection.

Nominations may be submitted electronically by e-mail at
governance@aera.netor by completing the AERA award nominations e-form
at
http://www.logiforms.com/formdata/user_forms/7993_9562493/64431/.

The Research to Practice Award can be given in each of two categories –
interpretive scholarship and professional service. I have pasted below the
description of each category. Please feel free to contact me with any
questions. Thank you in advance for your consideration and help with this
important AERA endeavor.
