great connections, Iraj. As a spatial guy, you should appreciate the idea
that new species are likely to find their niches on the periphery. You and
others on the list may be interested in a new book edited by Tuomi-Grohn
and Engestrom, *Between school and work: New Perspectives on transfer
and boundary crossing. Pergamon. 2003.

The mixture of spatial and temporal concepts in the book, as well as
heteroglosia/multi-voicedness is quite striking and the examples, as the
book's title indicates, take us out of the formal school classroom to
connect it to work environments, or take on work enviorments as sites of
learning in their own right.
