Yes, Steve-- Even the mainstream media are reporting the the ubiquitous violence
against women. Some estimates for the US are 1/3 women abused by partners. Of
course, places like Afghanastan get the most attention from US media, but the
level of discussion seems greater this year, or perhaps its just in my tiny
part of the global cultural soup.
