If my memory serves me correctly (which it usually doesn't) Vygotsky used
the intentionally double-barrelled "word-meaning," because he was concerned
to follow the distinct and intersecting course of word use and intention.
The key lay in the system of activity within which words are "used"
differently.

In my view, Hegel and Marx have in mind culture, individual and activity as
a necessary triangle in which activity is mediating between culture and the
individual.
