The event in order to bring Mario Golder to Brazil,
according to Professsor Oriosvaldo, formal organizer of it,
was conceived as a "semminar" but is, in fact, a group of "lectures".

The name given to the happening was "1st International Semminar Activity Theory and Education".
Professor Oriosvaldo explained that it was "shaped" as a "semminar" to be "bureaucratically aproved
in time".

So, that "alternative way" found by him, Professor Ori,
is also known here as "brazilian way of moving"
- can you imagine people dancing "samba"?
;-)

You may know that, now, our country is under
"terrorist" attack of transnational-volatile Capital... Dollar is in the heighest! Almost 100% in two days.
There are international fear that new Government to be elected next october
be lined more at left (Lula/PT=Labour Party)
or center-left (Ciro/PPS= Party no more named Brazilian Comunist Party )
- the best placed in Presidential sucession ranking.

Well... because of "our" historical's "improvisational vocation",
Department of Mathematics got one more day to the first 3 ones planned to the semminar.
Gonna sumarize what went on this morning:

Golder elected "colonel" Elkonin as object of his discourse.
And present his historical trajetory as a researcher and militar, focusing
in his work after 1960.

He said that since 60ies Elkonin interacted with other ocidental researchers,
particularlly with Michael Cole, Jerome Brunner, Bronfenbrener and James Wertsch.

But he gave special enphasis to MC.
He did spoke around 15 minutes of Michael Cole, not only as the first american to be
oriented in Moscow, during the cold war, but as a very important
researcher that has been engaged on developing CHAT,
particularlly in USA's West Coast. He reffered to his biography and now-a-days
research projects
and specially to Cole's picture director father - and the persecution suffered
by him along MCarthism.

He expressed his desire was next year Michael Cole could
be conducting some lectures at USP, as a way of giving continuity to the
discussion

He pointed that, in his oppinion, the main thesis of
Elkonin is that "learning guides development through activity".
And also reffered to the periodization of child cultural development,
acoording to Elk.

He finished his speach, inviting all to watch a brazillian
film documentary intitled "The butterflys of Lagork" [As borboletas de Lagork]
where it is shown some aspects and features of pedagogical interventions in special education in Russian,
in the end of 80s, at a very known special education russian institution in
Lagork, directed to blind and mute people-children.
