a change of life

I'm really sorry I have been so busy that I've missed participating in some
of the very interesting discussions here in the last month or two. I hope
to return to "active status" more in the future and to see many of you at
ISCRAT next month.

I also want to let my many friends on xmca know that I will be making a big
change in my life at the end of the summer.

After many, many years here in New York, I have accepted a senior faculty
position at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Michigan made me a
very attractive offer and it's an outstanding research university where
I'll have new opportunities to work with wonderful colleagues and students
across many fields.

I will also be celebrating my release from the administrative position
which has taken so much of my time and effort over the last two years
building a new graduate program. The program will be in good hands and I'm
sure it will continue to grow.

Meanwhile I am still head of the program for a couple months more, and I
will also have a lot of planning to do for this major move. But I hope I'll
manage to send off at least a few contributions to the list, and I
certainly look forward to talking with many friends in Amsterdam!

JAY.

PS. I hope to be able to give people my new contact information later in
the summer.
