Helena--Thanks for sending the summary on labor studies. What you say about
the relative interest of AERA versus ISCRAT in this regard makes perfect
sense. AERA is one of my least favorite conferences because it is simultaneously
so large and fails to provide means for concerted critical discussions about
educational research. The serious work gets drowned too often in the
heated debates about experimental or questionaire results "significant
at the .05 level.

At the same time, there ARE openings for serious discusion at AERA. Perhaps
with proper lead time, for next year, say, an attempt, perhaps led by the
CHAT sig, could focus entirely on this one area, as means of self and other
education at the event.

Lets hope some way can be found to get some resources for you to visit
Amsterdam!
