I replied to Martin's post with a repsonse that suggested people who have
never applied their learning should not become teachers. You bring up a good
point that there is a difference between understanding math principles and
applying them. Do you believe it is possible to understand this distinction
without ever having had the opportunity to fail at applying principles a
person so surely thought they undertstood? Do you agree it is important for
teachers to practice their knowledge before attempting to instruct others in
that discipline?
