the heat is on!

Here is an interesting artifact to share. The time I had budgeted this morning
to write up the interpretation of the youth committee meeting is gone, but just
now a skateboarder, Ian, has delivered this letter to my door. I'll probably
be drawing from this a little bit later. It sure is hot around here.

Dear neighbors of the skate-park,

Tonight a peaceful (but loud) protest will be occurring on your street.
Unfortunately I will be unable to attend, but I'll be back for the other
protests that will occur each and every night until our demands are met. We
wish to be able to skate at night, yet our skateboards will be confiscated
anywhere but the park. I understand you may think the park creates to much
noise, but the type of pavement used is very smooth and deseigned to be almost
soundless. I alone can create much more noise, as you may remember from the
past night, but many more will be with me, skating on your front lawn screaming
at the top of their lungs. If you feel the need to call the police, go ahead,
because if I am arrested for this I will still be back the next night and the
night after that even if I am arrested every time, so I suggest you call our
mayor Lisa Mead and request that the park stay open all night (or please at
least a few extra hours into the night). I couldn't tell you her work phone
number, but her home phone is ***-****. If the rules are not changed we will
be loud and angry, if the rules are changed the most you will hear is the
enjoyment of kids (something otherwise impossible to find in Newburyport). If
you are in agreement with the skaters, sorry for the inconvenience, hopefully
it will be all over soon, and please, you too, give our mayor a phone call with
your support.
