Paul Ehrlich of the 'green theory' gave a great speech soon after the
announcement that the human DNA mapping revealed 'only' 39,000 genes instead
of the 100,000 previously thought. He spoke of many things but the one which
struck me as extremelely profound was that since humans are a mere thousand
genes apart from chimps that instead of evolving genetically, humans evolve
culturally. In fact, cultures evolve aproximately every 18 years.
