Mike,

Teaching a skill is only as good as utilizing the same skill. Remember,
teaching something is much different then coaching an individual for success.
 In other words, your ability to teach about any literacy can only come from
the 'practice' of instucting the skill accompanied with that literacy. I
would not want to learn how to sky-dive from someone who has never jumped out
of an airplane just as I would never want to learn about providing instuction
from only an 'ivory-tower' adademician. One learns about the intricate art
of mediation from actualy providing that service. The teaching of literacy
is one of those skills that can only be acquired from practice, not from
study.
