Thanks to Dick Allington for the February Absurdity of the Month

In a month full of absurdity: NEA and AFT endorsing Paige as Sec. of
Education, Bush's education plan getting support from Kennedy, Bush's
Education Plan announced surrounded by "Reading Experts", Some real
reading experts attending his white House reading event, etc etc.---

It is somehow fitting that a financial company with the ironic name of
Standard and Poor should be getting into the School Evaluation business.
How Absurd!!! All Aboard!!!

Standard & Poor's is accepting applications on an ongoing basis for a

variety of staff positions with its national School Evaluation Services

team, based in New York City. Team members have the satisfaction of
working

on a service that is playing an increasingly important role in reform

efforts underway in primary and secondary education throughout the U.S.

This dynamic and growing team of professionals is providing powerful new

web-based analytical and decision-making tools for public policy

professionals, elected officials, administrators, and voters in the
rapidly

changing environment of public schools. Applicants should have
experience in

such areas as performance measurement, financial analysis, statistics,

economics of education, policy analysis, quantitative research,

institutional effectiveness, or educational administration. Superior

analytical and writing skills are essential. Compensation and benefits
are

very attractive. Contact William Cox, Standard & Poor's, 55 Water
Street,

New York, NY 10041. Fax: 212-438-1245. Email may be sent to
