Carl-- "Shared" in English has this fascinating double sided nature. It
means both held in common and divided up in a particular way (sharing
the cookie). With Durkheim, we have to wonder not why social life
is imperfect (" a failure to communicate clearly" fo rexample) but
how socia life is possible at all. This goes for people in common/broad
activities (I am paraphrasing you) and people in zillions of common,
not so broad ones.
Are we inventing a new context for discussion of the relation of nomoethic
and idographic levels/modes of description/explanation?
