mike,

it would be incredible if, in addition to the list-serv aspect of xmca, some
way were devised to set up streamed conferences over the internet, allowing
for various forms of mixed-media (eg, video and audio only). That would
certainly move things to a new level and extend participation beyond single
institution frameworks.

also, I hope we don't lose track of a possible Ingold discussion since his
material looks very interesting, especially insofar as he comes out of
ecological anthropology where questions of "objective nature" assume
immediate relevance.

speaking of objective nature, has anyone picked up on the role of
"objectivity" in the discourses surrounding the Florida recounts. It's
quite telling how the republicans insist on "the objectivity of the
machine."
