Andy, I have a copy of Ilyenkov’s (1977) ‘The Concept of the Ideal’ from
Philosophy in the USSR: Problems in Dialectical Materialism Progress
Publishers. Unfortunately it is a marked copy but I could try to fax it to
you, or post it express. Peter Jones may have a better copy. Its about 24
pages long, 12 A4.

David Bakhurst’s (1997) piece ‘Meaning, Normativity and the Life of Mind’ in
Language and Communication, 17 (1), 33-51, is also very helpful in
explaining Ilyenkov's work on the Ideal. Jan
