Hi Helen, just wanted to tell you that coming from a different sort of
background, but with a fascination for the workings of language (what I
sometimes call my linguistics envy) I was greatly interested to read your
posting -- no need to apologize twice, tho I can imagine the imaginings of
still-lurking "super-experts" that made you put them in :-) I do hope some
of those who work with it have the time to answer some of your questions
about AT analysis of genre, and how to organize the relevant history of
speech acts into a theoretical model.
