In the 5D afterschool program we are carrying out in Puebla, Mexico (which
is modelled after the LCHC programs but adapted roughly to our local
conditions) we have a constant redefinition of the site, on the part
of the parents, as "computer class".

Last March, two of my colleagues who are collaborating with me at site and
myself visited some of the UC sites. Following the visit, our own site was
compared unfavorably to some of the others because of being too game and
play centered. There was some pressure to turn the program more into a
"homework club".

It seems that if the link between the activity/site and in-school programs
isn't direct, it's harder to establish the legitimacy of what you're doing
to others who aren't already convinced.
