You'd better be careful about whapping anything with a salmon around
here--they're on the endangered species list. But old timers remember the
time when you could walk across the Eel River on the backs of the salmon
during spawing season, and the Yurok and Karuk up on the Klammath would
just put out a basket by the falls and watch the salmon jump right in!
Catch enough salmon to spend all winter wearing masks and dancing.
Times have changed.
